Tight Weaves Cause Hair Loss

via essence.com

Hair weaves sewn on to tight cornrows have become commonplace in our community. “The tighter the braids are, the longer the weave lasts,” says dermatologist Woolery-Lloyd, “but that’s when you’re putting yourself at risk for hair loss.”

If you need a painkiller after you leave the salon, “don’t wait; take it out. It’s too tight,” says Woolery-Lloyd. Just because you wear a weave doesn’t mean you have to suffer from thinning hair.”

Solution: consider half weaves or wigs; they are alternative hairstyles that don’t require cornrows.
