How to do a Braid out with natural hair

Braid outs are a natural hairstyle that are created by braiding three strands of hair together with a styling product. Braid outs are created when the braids are separated and fluffed.

Braid outs can be styled on short, transitioning natural hair or on longer natural hair.

Tips to achieving the perfect braid out & twist out

via pretty-girl-rock.com

1. Start on clean, freshly washed and conditioner hair–this is essential to achieving a bountiful shine and sheen with lots of body. Hair that’s already weighed down with product or that has not been thoroughly cleansed will appear dull and has high frizz-potential.
2. Use a leave-in conditioner on damp hair before applying any other product. The leave-in helps to give balance to those areas that need extra moisture and conditioning.
3. Apply a creamy, water-based styler instead of gel. Applying a water-based styler will not only aid in moisture retention but will also help to give definition and bit of hold. Gels often contain ingredients that will cause the hair to be crunchy and/or dry–the act of getting rid of the crunchiness may cause an unwanted frizz.
4. Follow with a bit of light oil like jojoba, coconut or olive oil to seal in the moisture. I usually take a nickle-sized amount of jojoba oil, rub my hands together and then run my hands over my braids or twists. Doing so locks moisture into the hair which may keep you from having to re-moisturize your hair throughout the week.
5. To minimize the chance of frizz taking over, the braids/twists should be left in until they’re completely dry. Not allowing the braids/twist to dry completely will result in frizz and there’s no way around it. If you like a little frizz, exercise control and fluff your hair up on your own at take down. That way, you can control the amount of frizz that will occur.
Remember to wear a satin bonnet to bed or sleep on a satin pillowcase as cotton will suck the moisture right out of your beautiful hair.

How to Style Havana Twists: Tips for Creating Great Twists

Havana twists are hair extensions that are created by using Havana hair. Havana twists are large, chunky twists that have the texture of natural hair. Havana hair comes in a clear package and is divided into individual hair strands. The strands of Havana hair are used to create the Havana Twists. To create Havana twists that are smooth and round, follow these five tips.

Blogger Pachet with Havana Twists
1. Comb the Havana hair. Before adding the extensions to your hair, comb the synthetic hair pieces with a narrow tooth comb. Start combing the one end of the hair piece until you reach the center. Next, comb the other end of the hair piece.

Just like the yarn, the Havana hair strands will separate and look fluffy.
Step 1: Fold Havana hair piece in half
Step 2: Comb one end of hair piece, starting at the end
Step 3: Comb the other end of hair piece
Step 4: Havana hair piece is now ready to be styled with

2. Moisturize your Havana hair. Mix a small amount of water with a light carrier oil like jojoba oil, extra virgin olive oil, or almond oil in a spray bottle. Add 3-4 drops of an essential oil like eucalyptus essential oil. Shake mixture until combined. Lay the Havana hair on top of a towel. Spray hair lightly then squeeze moisture throughout hair.

Havana hair moisture mix recipe
1/2 cup of water
1 tablespoon of oil
3-4 drops of essential oil

3. Use a pomade while twisting. When adding Havana twists extensions to your hair, twist the hair with a pomade or a thick styling cream. Pomades have a sticky texture that will make the hair smooth down, allowing the twists to have a good-looking finish.

4. Twist your hair lightly. Add your Havana twists extensions by twisting your hair without applying too much pressure. When you twist the Havana twists lightly, the twists look bigger and more chunky when finished.

5. Reuse your hair extensions. You can keep your Havana twists in up to two weeks before washing. Save the hair extensions and reuse them one more time. If you keep your Havana twists extensions in longer than two weeks, do not reuse the hair as it will have more build-up.

How to curl your hair :
  1. Always curl the hair away from your face.
  2. Wrap the hair around the curling iron {see in the last picture how to hold your arms and the curling iron}
  3. Hold for about 5-8 seconds.
  4. Don’t use hairspray until the end. Too much hairspray will make them fall out.
  5. It works better when you have layers cut in your hair. I have about collar bone length layers

    "A Birthday Celebration"

Hello everyone! How's everybody doing? It's still summer here in the Philippines and I know in some parts of the world it is Spring time already. It's a little less than a month from now and it will be "back to school" again here!
Anyways, last May 2, I celebrated my 37th birthday. It was
just a simple celebration with my family. My day started with going to church with my husband. Then we went to fetch our daughter from her vacation at my mom's house. We went to the mall & watched IRONMAN 3 (3D). Then we ate at my fave pizza store: SHAKEY'S PIZZA!!

Here's some of the pics while eating at Shakey's:

Check out some of the food & drinks we ordered. Yum! Yum! Yum!:

my daughter ordered this drink: Mango Super Shake

I ordered this drink: Coffee Chip Super Shake

Chix N' Chips basket.....I Love MOJOS!!!

We ordered my fave pizza, the BELLY BUSTER PIZZA! Consists of 11 delicious toppings:
beef, Italian sausage, ham, pepperoni, salami, cheddar cheese,
salami bits, mushroom, red & green bell peppers, onions & black olives!!

Here are some of our pics when we watched IRONMAN 3:

Here we were having fun taking pics while inside the movie theater. We were the firsts people there and the movie hasn't started yet so we took some time taking wacky shots with our 3D Glasses on!

That's mostly what i had for my birthday. Very simple yet very important to me. Because on my special day, my daughter & husband were with me the whole day!!

Don't forget to check out my next post this coming weekend! A big change has come upon my daughter!!! I'm so excited to show it all to you guys!

    "Amazing Hairstyle" - Throwback Thursday

I saw this amazing hair tutorial video! And the hairstyle here was so pretty amazing & gorgeous.

I've seen the first part of the said hairstyle (BTW, i don't know what the person who did it call this hairstyle) at PrincessHairstyles.com and there, it is called the Chain Link Braid Headband Hairstyle. You can check out Kori's hair blog of the said hairstyle here.

Anyways, here is the video of this "Russian" hair tutorial. I would love to do this one day. Hopefully, by the start of the school year (June), i would be able to try this on my daughter's hair (since she is on vacation at my mother's house).

    Here's the video:

Hope you enjoy it! Post it on my Fb page Pretty Hairstyles For Girls or post a pic on my Twitter @SamsPrettyHair or in our Instagram: @SamsPrettyHair, even here if you have done it already!!

    "FAUX-HAWK 2 STRAND TWISTS"

    "Faux-Hawk 2 Strand Twists"

    Hi every one!!

I saw a hairstyle from one hair blogger Goldilocks 'N Me, and I immediately tried it on my daughter's hair. We are so loving these days anything about "twists" hairstyles. In the original hairstyle, Goldilocks made 4 parts of side ponies. Here in my daughter's pic i only made 3 parts.

3 parts made and tied first into
    side ponies
So, make your part, either 3 or 4, from ear to ear and tie each into side ponies. Make sure that the ponies are aligned from each other.

Divide the top pony first into 2 and make a "twisted braid". Click the link for the video tutorial of the twisted braid from Princess Hairstyles:  http://www.princesshairstyles.com/2008/09/twist-braid-video.html

Do the same thing on the remaining pony tails. So now you will have 3 or 4 twisted pony tails.

All you have to do this time is add your favorite hair accessories on top to add more "umph" to the hairstyle. Here i added a big flower clip on top. I think big bows, flower clips or ribbons make it more prettier. Bigger is better!! :)

Hope you guys like it!! Enjoy doing this hairstyle!

    Lots of Love,
